Benefits

Why People Choose Georgia Residency

Georgia gives you low tax, a fast residence permit and a good life in one country. And because every rule is written in the law, you know your tax before you move.

  • 0% Tax on Foreign Income

Once you are a Georgian tax resident, Georgia does not tax your income from abroad. Which means your foreign dividends, interest and investment gains stay yours.

  • Individual Entrepreneur Georgia: 1% Tax

An individual entrepreneur in Georgia with small business status pays 1% of turnover, up to GEL 500,000 a year. On USD 100,000 of sales, that is about USD 1,000 of tax.

  • A Clear 183-Day Rule

Spend 183 days in Georgia in any 12 months and you become a tax resident. Then the Revenue Service issues a Georgia tax residency certificate to show your home tax office.

  • A Full Year Without a Visa

Citizens of about 95 countries, including the EU, the UK and the US, can stay in Georgia for a year without a visa. So you can move first and get your residence permit once you are there.

  • Your Georgia Residence Permit in 10 Days

A complete Georgia residence permit file is decided within 30 days, or in 10 with the express fee. For most permit types it has to be filed 40 calendar days before your lawful stay ends.

  • A Better Life for Less

Tbilisi and Batumi give you city life, the Black Sea, mountains, and some of the best food and wine in Europe. And a one-bedroom flat in central Tbilisi costs about GEL 1,755 a month.

How it works

How to Get Residency in Georgia, Step by Step

How to get residency in Georgia depends on which permit you qualify under, and the order matters more than the paperwork does. Here is every step as it actually happens. You get a few documents apostilled at home, and we do the rest in Tbilisi.

  1. Before you fly

    We choose your permit

    Free call

You tell us your nationality, how you earn and when you want to move. Then we tell you which of the fifteen permit types you qualify for, which is the fastest, and how much tax you would actually save.

  2. Documents from home

    Apostilled at home

You get a few documents apostilled at home, and we send you the exact list so you only do it once. A passport with Latin-script data needs no translation, and for most permit types you do not need a police certificate from home: the Agency checks criminal records itself.

  3. We check everything

    Before you book

You send us scans of your documents and we check every one. Which means you travel with a complete file, and nothing gets sent back.

  4. Translation and notary

    In Georgia

We translate your documents into Georgian and handle the notary for you.

  5. In Georgia

    Arrival in Georgia

    Visa-free or visa

You fly to Georgia. Most Western passports enter visa-free for a full year, so you can settle in while we file.

  6. Right to work, if you need one

10 working days to 30 days

If you will work or run a business in Georgia, you need a work permit first. We apply for it with you, and the express option takes 10 working days.

  7. Filing at the Public Service Hall

    10, 20 or 30 days

We file your residence permit application at the Public Service Hall. For most permit types it has to be in at least 40 calendar days before your lawful stay ends, and that is the deadline people miss on their own. You get a decision in 30 days, or in 10 days with the express option.

  8. After the permit

    Your residence card

    Within 1 month

Your permit is granted and you pick up your Georgian residence card. You are now a legal resident of Georgia.

  9. Tax residency and banking

    After 183 days

After 183 days in Georgia you get your tax residency certificate. We also open your Georgian bank account and register your 1% business if you want one.

FAQ

Georgia Residency FAQ: Your Questions Answered

Everything you need to know about Georgian residency, tax residency, the process and costs.

  • To stay as a visitor, often not. Citizens of about 95 countries can stay one year without a visa. A visa-free stay does not let you work in Georgia, though. Since 1 March 2026 a foreigner who works or is self-employed in Georgia needs a right to work, and a residence permit gives you a stable status for banking, contracts and renewals.
