Numbeo is crowd-sourced: users report the prices they pay. The figures below are from its pages as last updated on 20 October 2026.
Tbilisi and Batumi side by side
All amounts are monthly and in Georgian lari (GEL). Numbeo shows them with the lari sign. We have written them as GEL.

On these figures, Batumi is cheaper for housing. A central one-bedroom flat costs about GEL 444 a month less than in Tbilisi. Day-to-day costs without rent are about GEL 164 a month lower. A cheap restaurant meal costs the same in both cities.
Rough monthly totals
Adding Numbeo's rent figure to its costs excluding rent gives a rough monthly total. The sums below are ours, made from the figures in the table above.
| Household and flat | Tbilisi (GEL) | Batumi (GEL) |
|---|---|---|
| One person, one-bedroom flat outside the centre | 2,896.99 | 2,518.24 |
| One person, one-bedroom flat in the centre | 3,480.16 | 2,872.18 |
| Family of four, three-bedroom flat outside the centre | 8,632.04 | Not in our data |
| Family of four, three-bedroom flat in the centre | 9,724.85 | Not in our data |
Our data does not show whether Numbeo's costs excluding rent already include utilities and internet. If they do not, add about GEL 278 a month in Tbilisi (GEL 227.87 for utilities and GEL 50.39 for internet). In Batumi, add about GEL 235. Health insurance is not in these totals either. See healthcare in Georgia.
What crowd-sourced data can and cannot tell you
Numbeo collects prices from its users. It is not an official statistics office. The number of reports behind each figure can be small, and the people who report are not a random sample.
Use Numbeo for a rough budget, not for a contract. Rents also vary by district and by building. Check current listings for the area you want before you commit.
Other rent estimates for Tbilisi
Two other sources give similar numbers for a central one-bedroom flat in Tbilisi. Both published their figures in US dollars:
- Wise (2026) gives an average of about USD 687 a month.
- PB Services, citing Galt & Taggart for the end of 2025, gives about USD 700 a month.
At about GEL 2.62 per US dollar (the official rate on 24 September 2026, from a third-party copy of National Bank of Georgia data), these come to about GEL 1,800 and GEL 1,834. That is close to Numbeo's GEL 1,754.56. The conversion is ours. The exchange rate moves, so check it on the day.
Local pay for comparison
Geostat, Georgia's national statistics office, publishes average monthly earnings. These are gross figures, before the 20% personal income tax.
| Period | Average monthly gross earnings (GEL) | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Q1 2026, all sectors | 2,363.80 (up 8.9% on a year earlier) | Geostat release of 16 June 2026 |
| Q1 2026, information and communication | 4,290.70 | Geostat release of 16 June 2026 |
| Q2 2026, all sectors | 2,389.30 (up 8%) | Georgia Today, citing Geostat |
These are averages for the whole country, not for Tbilisi alone. A central one-bedroom flat in Tbilisi at GEL 1,754.56 is about three quarters of the national average gross pay. If your income comes from abroad, the gap matters less, but check how that income is taxed. See foreign income and Georgian tax.
Prices are rising
Geostat put annual inflation at 5.6% in August 2026, with core inflation at 3.8%. Numbeo prices are a snapshot. If you plan a budget for a year or more, allow for prices to keep rising.
What is not yet established. The inflation rate for September 2026. Trading Economics gives 5.6%. A 1tv.ge headline gives 5.0% "using EU methodology", which may be a different measure. We have not seen the Geostat release for September.
Costs of the move itself
This page covers living costs only. A residence permit has its own state fees, and documents from abroad need apostilles and translations. See the cost of Georgian residency for those figures. For banking, insurance and the other parts of settling in, start at living in Georgia.
